Welcome to Marbella Senior Open 2023

​

This event is a 18 hole Better Ball event followed by a 36 hole individual event,

all of which are played at Atalaya Old and New Course in Marbella.

​

First opened in 1968, Atalaya´s Old Course is one of the finest courses on the Costa del Sol. 

The wide generous fairways undulate gently between mature trees and flowering shrubs providing shade and all year colour. The frequently elevated greens can make club selection interesting and their subtle contours need careful judgement to sink those all-important putts.

​

The Old Course was designed by Bernard von Limburger, one of Germany´s foremost golf course architects, responsible for 74 European courses. Each year Atalaya hosts a number of professional tournaments, whilst always offering a fair test of golf for players of all levels.

​

The New Course opened in 1990, this Paul Krings designed course presents an intriguing test of golf. Paul Krings has been responsible for the design of a number of European golf courses.

 

Set in the hills above the Atalaya Old Course, the New Course rewards accuracy off the tee, rather than out and out length. A number of the fairways and greens feature slopes and elevation changes, requiring careful shot selection.

The New course provides wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and thanks to its location away from busy roads provides a tranquil setting in which to enjoy your round of golf. Wildlife abounds throughout the course, including the lake on the picturesque 4th hole and there is a natural wood in the centre of the course, featuring cork oaks, olive and carob trees.

 

In the event we welcome all Professionals and amateurs golfers with hcp max 20. 

Current handicap certificates will be required from all amateurs upon registration.

 

Age: Professionals and amateurs 50 and over.

This event has a maximum field of 100 players and will be fully booked,

so register as soon as possible to secure your spot in the event.

​

This is the Tour Final for the 2023 season and the spots will first be allocated to the Top 25 Professionals and the Top 75 amateurs in the Order of Merit. If some of these players don't attend the spots will be allocated by first come, first served. After that it will be a waiting list.
